1. Regularly scheduled promotional tests will be held at
10-12 week intervals or up to 4 times per year.
2. All students must satisfy the requirements for length of training,
number of lessons attended, required techniques, and instructor's
recommendation in order to be eligible to take the promotional test. All students must be current with their
tuition and other fees to be eligible for the test.
3. If a student fails a test, the following test will be
free of charge. If he/she fails again,
a full test fee will be charged for the next test.
4. Anyone who cannot attend the regular testing day must
notify the instructor immediately. He/She will be permitted to test within two
weeks. He/She, however, must register
for the original test date as specified in items 3 & 4. The next regular test must be attended.
5. All students must take promotional tests as they are
scheduled. Continuous non-attendance of
the regular promotional tests is grounds for dismissal from the school.
6. The Cho Dan Bo (recommended Black Belt) may test for the
Full Black Belt after six months of his/her achievement of Cho Dan Bo. The Cho Dan Bo must test for the Full Black
Belt within a one-year period from the date of Cho Dan Bo. If he/she fails to defend the Full Black
Belt within the one-year grace period, he/she will be automatically demoted to Red Belt with two black tips, and must
take Cho Dan Bo test again. Exceptions will
be considered in case of emergency, accident, or by special permission.
7. Children and Junior Black Belts under the age of sixteen
are allowed to receive a Second Degree Black Belt, and receive a Second Poom
Certificate from the World Tae Kwon Do Federation.
8. All Black Belts must meet the Black Belt requirements,
and must earn two test credits before they are permitted to take the Full Rank
Promotional Test. Junior Black Belts,
however, must earn all required Test Credits prior to their 15th birthday, and
will be tested for the Third Degree Black Belt at the regularly scheduled
promotional test immediately after their 16th birthday.
9. Special belt recommendations will be made for those
students who have made exceptional progress in their physical and mental
training.
10. Probational promotion means that there are some requirements to be
improved or met within a set period of time.
Non-compliance with the requirements within the grace period
automatically results in failure,
and the student must be retested within six months thereafter. The requirements imposed upon students above
Red Belt must be demonstrated before
the judges at the regularly scheduled promotion tests.
Conditional promotion means there are some techniques to be improved
or met before the student is permitted to take the next promotional test. Non-compliance with the requirements within
the set period of time will result in an automatic withhold for the following promotional test; i.e., skip one
promotional test. The student may take
a test thereafter.
